The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced that the westbound and eastbound bridges on the Western Kentucky Parkway connection Muhlenberg and Ohio counties will have temporary lane closures to allow for bridge inspections.
A press release from the Cabinet shares that AECOM an infrastructure consulting firm will perform a steel tension inspection which is necessary to ensure the safety and structural soundness of the bridges.
Three separate lane closures are scheduled for the inspection. From March 4 to March 7 the right eastbound lane of the bridge will be closed. On March 8 and from March 11 to March 13 the right westbound lane of the bridge will be closed. The schedule of the closures is subject to change depending on the progress of the inspection and weather conditions.
The Cabinet advises motorists to exercise caution when traveling over the bridges and to anticipate delays because of lane closures.
