After entering a guilty plea recently to first-degree wanton endangerment and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, Steven Black was formally sentenced in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday.
Black appeared alongside public defender Eric Bearden, who informed the court that the victim was in agreement with the plea down from first-degree assault, and Black has been working hard to stay out of trouble while dealing with several personal issues.
The Commonwealth was neutral on shock probation but opposed to standard probation, saying Black has shown he has a history of finding guns when he shouldn’t. The charges came with a recommended sentence of four years in total.
Ultimately, Judge John Atkins decided to meet in the middle and sentenced Black to six-months of home incarceration with strict restrictions.
Black entered a guilty plea to his role in the shooting incident that sent Samuel Sivils to the hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to the foot.
