Focusing on local workforce retention, the South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council has launched their third annual wage and skill survey.
The survey is a part of the council’s Get Ready to Win (GR2W) initiative which focuses on investing in economic and infrastructure growth, quality of life and workforce development. According to a news release from the council the survey is shared to regional industries and large employers to note current wage and benefit structures as well as skill gaps.
The survey results will be used to provide guidance to industries regarding competitive wages and benefits as well as establishing what educational and training opportunities would be useful for workforce building.
Council Associate Director, Tony Prim says focusing on the workforce of current regional industries is one of their top priorities, and the survey gives them a glimpse at what opportunities are available to workers and where improvements need to be made.
The third annual survey comes after over 850 new jobs will soon be available in the region as the result of four industries that are working toward expanding their operations during 2023 according to the news release.
