Kynect partners with college system to help students register for insurance

State insurance program, Kynect is partnering with the Kentucky Community and Technical College System to have onsite insurance experts at each state community college to help students apply for health coverage and other programs.

Kynect is an insurance market program for Kentuckians who want specific insurance, but do not have coverage through an employer or any other federal coverage programs. The program offers healthcare, food assistance and childcare.

At each of the 16 KCTCS campuses across the state, Gov. Andy Beshear says there will be onsite agents called “Kynectors” to help students, free of charge, apply for insurance coverage and other programs.

With onsite Kynectors, Beshear says they are working to remove obstacles Kentuckians may face when it comes to registering for insurance. By having proper health insurance, Beshear says they are also working to help students be successful in their studies.

According to Beshear, open enrollment for Kynect concludes on January 16 and registration and more information can be found at kynect.ky.gov.
