Hopkinsville man arrested for baseball bat assault

A Hopkinsville man is facing a second-degree assault charge after he allegedly struck his nephew with a baseball bat last Friday.

According to the Hopkinsville police report, officers responded to the 400 block of Henderson Drive for reports of an assault between a nephew and his uncle. Officers made contact with the victim, who was going in an out of consciousness due to the severity of a head wound.

Investigation determined that the victim and 55-year-old Timothy King of Hopkinsville had been in a fight when King allegedly grabbed a bat and struck the victim on the torse and then in the head, knocking him unconscious.  The victim was able to get help from a neighbor.

King reportedly returned to the residence and showed officers where the bat was, which was taken into evidence.  Then King was arrested and charged with second-degree assault.
