Local economic organization, MEDI, is inviting the community to their annual Holiday Mixer this Thursday to celebrate the season, recognize small businesses and honor people who have played vital roles in the community.
MEDI is an economic development organization, founded in 1989 that focuses on supporting and providing resources to small and minority-owned businesses in Christian County. MEDI Executive Director, Henry Snorton says while many bigger businesses are hosting holiday parties, he is inviting those a part of smaller businesses to the annual mixer to give them a space to network and celebrate the holidays.
At this year’s mixer, musician Jerone Williams will be playing music live, there will be food provided by GiGelita’s Cuisine and More LLC and Snorton says they will host pop-up shops featuring small businesses. Snorton says the pop-ups are a chance for those still shopping for gifts before Christmas to shop local.
At the pop-up shops, Snorton says attendees can buy candles, jewelry woodwork art and more.
Along with the festivities, Snorton says they will also be taking a moment to recognize those in the community who have worked to make a difference and giving them their flowers. Snorton says this year they are honoring family medicine doctor Chester Crump, dentist Teresa Croney-White, Ronnie Catlett from Catlett Asphalt and Sealing and former Christian County Fiscal Court Treasurer Walter Cummings.
MEDI’s Holiday Mixer is on Thursday from 5:30p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at their office located at 1101A South Main St.
