Louisville man charged with drug trafficking, wanton endangerment in Hopkins Co.

A Louisville man is facing numerous charges, including wanton endangerment and drug trafficking, following a traffic stop in Hopkins County on Wednesday. 

According to a news release, the traffic stop was conducted near Hubert Reid and Grapevine Road around 3:15 p.m. and the passenger, 61-year-old Lorandus Stone of Louisville was arrested in connection with a controlled purchase investigation that was conducted by the Madisonville-Hopkins County Vice/Narcotics Detectives in October. 

During the controlled purchase, Stone allegedly developed approximately one ounce of methamphetamine to sell. 

Once arriving at the police department, an officer got Stone of the cruiser and located a plastic container in the floorboard—upon opening it, white powder went into the air, and the officer reportedly become lightheaded and felt like he was going to pass out. He was administered a single-dose of Narcan out of caution, due the fear the powder could have been Fentanyl.

The officer was transported to the hospital for treatment and observation. 

Stone allegedly admitted to ownership of the container and told detectives it contained roughly 20 grams of cocaine.

Stone was arrested and charged with trafficking in meth, trafficking in cocaine, engaging in organized crime and first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer.
