Madisonville-North Hopkins wins intense battle against Christian County on their home floor

On Tuesday night, the Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons hosted and defeated the Christian County Colonels 61-58 in a 2nd Region duel.

For both teams, it was their second game of the season as Madisonville was blown out by Marshall Co. and Christian Co. lost a nail biter against Butler Co.

Before the game, one outlier between the two teams was the difference in experience on the floor.

To add perspective, one senior started for Madisonville, while all five starters for the Colonels are members of the class of 2024.

“Fast” and “physical”, would be two appropriate words to describe the night that was filled with 48 foul calls, with 29 of them going against the Maroons.

For Madisonville, they were led in scoring by their 6’5″ junior Kanyon Johnson with 16 points, followed by senior Maverick Peyton with 8.

For the Colonels, they were once again led in scoring by Derrell Bateman as he finished the evening with 24 points. The second leading scorer was Prince Northington II with 16.

For Madisonville, their next game comes against John Hardin on Saturday, while the Colonels will be at Paducah Tilghman on Friday.
