The house fire on East 4th Street that sent a person to Jennie Stuart Medical Center Monday morning is being investigated as arson by the Hopkinsville Police Department.
That’s according to a report from the Hopkinsville Police Department, which states a fire was started in the hallway of the victim’s house. An occupant of the home was rescued from the building by Hopkinsville Police Chief Jason Newby, who helped pull them from a window while there was heavy smoke in the house and an active fire in the hallway.
That victim was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for evaluation due to smoke inhalation. Neither Chief Newby or any firefighters were injured in the blaze.
One person will be displaced.
