It was a great day at the Christian County Sheriff’s Department—as numerous animals found their new families at the Paws and Claws adoption event Saturday.
It was a super-sized event, the Christian County Regional Animal Shelter, Max’s Hope Pet Rescue, the Christian County Human Society, Haven 12:10 and Moving Mountains for Mastiffs all on hand with adoptable cats and dogs just waiting for their new homes. Sheriff’s Deputy Chris Miller says the day started off strong with three adoptions within the first 30 minutes, and they had great turnout throughout the day.
He says it’s their hope to put on this adoption event as often as they can, to help the local pet agencies that are often over-full with adoptable animals, as the sheriff’s department works closely with these agencies and are animal lovers themselves.
There were also services on site, such as micro-chipping, plenty of Halloween costumes, door prizes and more information on the agencies and how people can volunteer, donate to their cause or visit their individual locations to see what other animals are up for adoption.
The Christian County Sheriff’s Department themselves got a new recruit—puppy Alik, who will be in charge of K9 Public Relations at the department. People can expect to see him at community events, representing CCSO.
