Tonight the 2-4 Christian Co. Colonels open up district play on the season against the 1-5 Daviess Co. Panthers with kickoff set for 7:00 PM at the Stadium of Champions.
Christian Co. is coming off of a 55-0 loss against Bowling Green last week in a game where they were without key players including Jordan Miles and Theo Quarles. Both players however, are expected to be in the starting lineup tonight on both sides of the ball.
For Miles, despite only playing in four out of the six games for the Colonels, he still leads the team in rushing yards with 281.
On defense, Christian Co. will continue to be led by D Wilford who leads the team in tackles (47), sacks (3), and tackles for loss (7).
For Daviess Co. their last game was their first win of the season routing Warren Central 34-12. The bread and butter for the Panthers is their run game. They use a combined rushing attack from running backs Gatlin Maysey, Jace Hunt, and starting quarterback Dartez Basham. Maysey leads the trio with 315 rushing yards on 39 attempts giving him an average of around 8 yards per carry.
On the defensive side for the Panthers they will be led by Luke Floyd and Ryder Cunningham who both lead the team with 61 tackles. Daviess Co. as a team also has an impressive 8 interceptions on the year.
In the first district game of the season this will also be senior night for the Colonels and those activities will be taking place before the game after 6:00 PM and tailgating is set to go down an hour before that around 5:00 PM.
