TVA invests in energy efficient repairs for coverage region

The Tennessee Valley Authority is investing $1.5 billion through 2027 into their energy efficiency incentives and demand response programs for their coverage region to help residents and businesses lower their energy costs.

Launched on Sunday, the TVA announced in a news release that customers will be able to get rebated energy upgrades to their homes. Monika Beckner the TVA Energy Services & Programs vice president says homes can be eligible for HVAC and water heating unit upgrades, window replacements, installation replacements, and duct and air sealing.

Businesses can qualify for facility upgrades such as LED lighting, electric forklifts, refrigeration system upgrades and thermal ice storage system upgrades. Beckner says the rebated upgrades will allow for businesses to invest more in themselves.

Rebecca Tolene the TVA Chief Sustainability Officer says this initiative can lead to the conservation of around 22,000 megawatts of electricity.

According to the news release, combining offered rebated upgrades can help households save up to 50% a year on their electric bills.
