The Christian County Early Literacy Council has a new set of winners claiming spelling prowess bragging rights, as their spelling bee was hosted Tuesday night.
Fifty-seven local students squared off in competition, but only a few could emerge as the victors—in the grades six through eight division, first place went to Prisha Shaw of University Heights Academy, second went to Jackson Faulkner of Millbrooke Elementary and third place was claimed by Vedang Patel of University Heights Academy.
In the division for student in third through fifth grade, the first-place spot was won by Alex Luther of Millbrooke Elementary, Sarah Jackson of South Christian Elementary took second and third place went to Maanya Patel of University Heights Academy.
The winning word for the evening was a fun one—chimney.
