Teams claim bragging rights and prizes in Military Affairs Committee’ Chili Cook-Off

The Christian County Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee took over downtown Friday night for the annual Chili Cook-off, and teams came away with prizes and bragging rights once the judging was complete.

Teams began cooking bright and earlier Friday, but the judging happened later in the evening, after the public was able to sample the different chili for themselves and vote on their favorites.  But only a few could walk away as winners in both the chili and cornbread competitions.

The grand prize and first place in the chili competition went to the University Heights Academy team, who then donated their winnings to Max’s Hope Pet Rescue—in second place came the Walmart Distribution Center, and then third place was claimed by the Hopkinsville Fire Department.

The fire department was also the crowd favorite and Best Theme went to Fortera.

In the cornbread challenge, Terry Meacham took first place, second place went to First Baptist Church and the Knights of Columbus won third place.
