Members of the Hopkinsville Rotary Club were presented with the plans for the E.C. Green Cancer Center expansion at their Tuesday meeting.
Jennie Stuart Health Foundation Executive Director, Tracey Clark and Development Specialist Sarah Francis shared what the future of the E.C. Green Cancer Center looks like. The Foundation first shared what the expansion would include at the August 24 public capital campaign launch which served to raise funds for the expansion.
Clark shared with Rotarians that the Cancer Center expansion will nearly triple the size of the current facility and relies on repurposing current hospital space.
A key part of the of the expansion is to provide patients with comfort and privacy. Clark says there will be waiting and infusion spaces for patients where they can socialize with others or have privacy and a valet service to help with patient and caregiver comfort.
Efficient care is also a key factor in the Cancer Center’s expansion and Clark says they are working toward expanding both the radiation oncology and the medical oncology and hematology departments as well as integrating laboratory and pharmacy services into the Cancer Center.
Clark says the overall expansion of the Cancer Center will help them recruit more staff to further improve the care being provided.
Clark concluded saying that the expansion to the Cancer Center is set to be concluded by April 2024.
