Alire enters guilty plea to role in May high-speed, multi-county pursuit

Cody Alire, the man who led law enforcement on a high-speed, multi-county pursuit in May entered a guilty plea to several charges in relation to that event Monday morning in Christian Circuit Court.

Judge Andrew Self read the terms of the agreement, where Alire pled guilty to three counts of attempted murder of a police officer, first-degree attempted assault, 15 counts of attempted wanton endangerment, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, receiving stolen property, two counts of attempted fleeing or evading police, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and speeding. That comes with a sentence of 14 years in total, to be served concurrently alongside sentences in Muhlenberg and McLean counties.

Judge Self accepted his plea and defense attorney Eric Bearden says this is the final case of Alire’s in Kentucky.

They moved right into formal sentencing that morning, with Judge Self sentencing Alire to 14 years in prison. Alire is currently a state inmate serving a 14-year sentence at 85% which means Alire will have to serve 85% of his sentence before appearing in front of a parole board.
