TVA, Kentucky Utilities receive top utility provider rankings in economic development

Site Selection Magazine recently ranked the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and Kentucky Utility Energy (KU Energy) as top utility providers for 2023 in the south-central region of the nation for economic development.

The Magazine named 20 of their top-ranking power providers based on job creation, reliability and project investment. Both TVA and KU Energy act as power providers to the Pennyroyal Region.

The TVA’s service region is expected to exceed 10,000,000 residents by the next Census Bureau report and have recently experienced a growth demand according to the Magazine. A TVA Representative says the provider helped attract $2.7 billion of business additions and expansions, which is projected to create or retain more than 21,700 jobs.

KU Energy has worked to make 97 corporate facility projects in 2022 helping the state achieve its second highest year for new investments in state history according to the Magazine. KU Energy’s Director of Business and Economic Development, John Bevington says the utility program has recently merged with their tool production sector to create Opportunity KY which he says is empowering economic vitality and quality of life.
