Grand jury returns indictments for assault, kidnapping

A Christian County Grand Jury has returned several indictments for assault, including against a Hopkinsville man accused of shooting a person in August. 

Indicted for first-degree assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon is 40-year-old Steven Black of Hopkinsville—he is accused of shooting Sam Sivils in the foot during an altercation in August, sending him to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment. 

Also indicted for first-degree assault in relation to an incident on August 13 where he allegedly intentionally engaged in conduct that caused serious physical injury by use of a deadly weapon to a victim is 48-year-old Albert Workman Jr. of Ohio. 

The grand jury has indicted 42-year-old Joshua Crute of Cadiz for second-degree assault domestic violence after he allegedly caused injuries to a victim in April of this year. 

Indicted for kidnapping of an adult, first-degree wanton endangerment, third-degree terroristic threatening, first-degree unlawful imprisonment and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon is 28-year-old Devon Williamson of Hopkinsville. According to the Hopkinsville Police Department report, Williamson had the two victims come to his residence to question them about some stolen items in July, and then upon their arrival proceeded to allegedly lock them in the house. He reportedly made them put down their items, in which he reportedly believed he had seen his stolen property.

Williamson reportedly became agitated would not allow the female victim to leave, though he did let the male victim leave as he ‘had no issue’ with him. Williamson allegedly fired a gunshot into the kitchen floor and told the female victim he ‘would blow her away’ if she did not sit down.
