One of the biggest festivals of the region is coming up the first weekend of September, when thousands of monarch butterflies will be released into the wild.
The Butterfly Festival is a beloved staple for Oak Grove and they’ll release thousands of the butterflies at 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 2—but the festivities start before that at 11 a.m. with Ryan Clark with Oak Grove Tourism saying they’ll have plenty of family friendly activities on hand.
That includes a popular Wild World of Animals stage show, with a variety of different animals a part of the educational show.
Then at 4 p.m. the butterflies will be released and Clark says it is truly something to behold.
The festival is free to attend with plenty of food and beverage options on hand for people to choose from and it takes place at the Oak Grove Memorial Walking Trail off Walter Garrett Lane. Attendees are asked to not bring their pets.
