(Westfield, IN) — The Colts are not trading Jonathan Taylor. That word comes directly from the horse’s mouth after owner Jim Irsay addressed the request over the weekend. Taylor is seeking a contract extension that has not materialized, and requested last week for Indianapolis to trade him to another team. According to ESPN, Taylor reported back pain during his pre-training camp physical that was deemed to be from an injury that was not sustained while playing for Indianapolis. The Colts could place the 24-year-old on the non-football injury list, which could result in the team withholding his salary. Taylor has since refuted the reported back pain.

(Florham Park, NJ) — The New York Jets star quarterback is defending his offensive coordinator. Aaron Rodgers spoke to NFL-plus after a weekend practice about Sean Payton’s criticism of Nathaniel Hackett. Payton agreed to become the new Denver Broncos head coach in the offseason, replacing Hackett after he was fired during last season. Payton said the former Green Bay Packers and current Jets offensive coordinator manned “one of the worst coaching jobs in the history of the NFL.” Payton later apologized, but Rodgers said his comments were out of line, inappropriate, and needs to keep his coaches’ names “out of his mouth.”

(Eagan, MN) — The Minnesota Vikings are rewarding their star pass rusher. Minnesota gave outside linebacker Danielle Hunter a new contract for the 2023 season on Sunday. Hunter will be paid 20-million dollars, with 17-million fully guaranteed. His new deal also prevents him from being franchise tagged or transition tagged in the offseason. The Vikings were originally open to trading Hunter after he reportedly made it clear that he wouldn’t play on his previous deal, which would have only paid him around five-million dollars for the season.

(Nashville, TN) — The Titans are back on the practice field this morning. Jim Wyatt with Tennessee Titans.com shared his observations from Saturday’s open practice and said the defense won the day. However, he noted DeAndre Hopkins practiced again and continues to look smooth. Wyatt said the secondary was solid all day while linebacker Rashad Weaver picked off Malik Willis. Starter Ryan Tannehill went 6-of-12 passing during 7-on-7 drills including a deep connection to Treylon Burks.

(East Rutherford, NJ) — Sterling Shepard is healthy once again. The Giants wide receiver was activated from the physically unable to perform list on Sunday and said he “felt great” in his first practice since tearing his left ACL last September. Shepard not only did individual drills in the team’s fourth practice, but even took some reps in live drills. This is the second consecutive year that Shepard spent the spring and early part of the summer rehabbing a serious injury. He was coming back from a torn Achilles last year. The 30-year-old has 362 catches, 4,038 yards and 22 touchdowns in his career.

(Cincinnati, OH) — The Cincinnati Bengals are adding a quarterback following Joe Burrow’s injury. The team announced Sunday its agreed to a deal with Reid Sinnett. The 26-year-old went undrafted out of San Diego in 2020 and spent a majority of his career on the Miami Dolphins’ practice squad. He was also on the Philadelphia Eagles’ active roster for 10 games in 2021. The signal caller has yet to appear in a regular season game. Head coach Zac Taylor said franchise QB Joe Burrow will miss several weeks after suffering a strained right calf during training camp last week. Sinnett will join quarterbacks Trevor Siemian and Jake Browning in Cincinnati.
