Woman charged with second-degree robbery

A Hopkinsville woman is facing a second-degree burglary charge following an incident at the Piggly Wiggly Monday morning.

According to the Hopkinsville Police Department report, 21-year-old Millie Howard had apparently been speaking with a manager about her last paycheck. She allegedly walked into the business and waited in the area of the cash register, and when an employee opened it while working, Howard allegedly moved the employee out of the way and grabbed a handful of cash from the drawer.

She attempted to run from the store but the employee reportedly started grabbing the money back from her and gave chase.  Howard allegedly began yelling expletives and perceived threats in the parking lot before driving away.

She was located a short time later and pulled over—she reportedly had a minor in the vehicle and admitted to officers that she had taken the money, but said she did not threaten anyone.

Howard was arrested and charged with second-degree robbery, unlawful transaction with a minor and third-degree terroristic threatening.
