The Murray Police Department has charged a man with several counts of attempted murder following a shooting on South Ninth Street early Sunday morning.
According to a news release, the shooting occurred around 1 a.m. in the 400 block of South Ninth Street where officers located a female victim who had gunshot injuries to her legs. She was transported to the Murray-Calloway County Hospital for treatment.
Investigators identified 35-year-old Michael Wayson of Murray as the suspect and he was located later and taken into custody.
He is charged with three counts of attempted murder, two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, one count of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and one count of tampering with physical evidence.
