Javonte Williams said on Sunday that he feels “ready to go” and hopes to be medically cleared for Denver’s training camp. Williams is recovering from a torn ACL and LCL in his right knee and was limited to just four games last season. The 23-year-old running back said he doesn’t want to play “scared or timid” after rehabbing from a severe knee injury. Williams was drafted by the Broncos in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

(Detroit, MI) — The Red Wings are adding a high-scoring forward to the roster. Detroit is acquiring forward Alex DeBrincat from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for two players and a pair of future draft picks. The Red Wings are sending forward Dominik Kubalik, defenseman prospect Donovan Sebrango, a conditional 2024 first-round pick and a 2024 fourth-round selection to Ottawa for the 25-year-old right wing. DeBrincat has also agreed to a four-year extension with Detroit that has an annual average value of 7.875-million dollars. The Michigan native totaled 27 goals and 66 points with Ottawa last season.

(Silvis, IL) — Sepp Straka is celebrating his second career PGA Tour victory after winning the John Deere Classic. Straka shot a 62 in the final round at TPC Deere Run to finish the tournament atop the leaderboard at 21 under par. Brendon Todd and Alex Smalley finished tied for second at 19 under. Adam Schenk and Ludvig Aberg tied for fourth place at 18 under par. Defending champion J.T. Poston tied with several other players for sixth place at 16 under.

(Hampton, GA) — William Byron claimed his Cup Series-leading fourth win of the season with a victory at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The driver of the number-24 car was named the winner of the Quaker State 400 after the race was called due to inclement weather on Sunday night. Byron was declared the winner after finishing at the front of the pack with 75 laps to go. Daniel Suarez, AJ Allmendinger, Michael McDowell and Kyle Busch rounded out the top-five finishers. Last weekend’s Grant Park 220 winner Shane Van Gisbergen did not get behind the wheel in Atlanta. The racers head to New Hampshire next weekend for the Crayon 301.

(Cincinnati, OH) — The United States soccer team is moving on in the CONCACAF Gold Cup at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati. The U.S took down Canada 3-2 on penalties Sunday to advance to the semifinals. Brandon Vazquez opened the scoring for the Americans after finding the back of the goal in the 88th minute. A Scott Kennedy own-goal in the 114th minute sent the game to penalties. Goalie Matt Turner stopped three of the five shots he faced to help lift the U.S to the victory. With the win, Team USA will take on Panama in the semifinals on Wednesday night.

(London) — The Quarterfinals are shaping up at Wimbledon. Andrey Rublev, Jannik Sinner and Roman Safiullin all punched their tickets to the quarters with victories. American Frances Tiafoe couldn’t advance after falling in straight sets to 21st-seeded Grigor Dimitrov. Four-time defending champion Novak Djokovic had his match suspended for curfew. On the women’s side, top-seeded Iga Swiatek fought off two match points to come back and beat 14th-seeded Belinda Bencic in three sets. American Jessica Pegula and Elina Svitolina also collected wins to reach the quarters.

The Grizzlies acquired guard Josh Christopher in a sign-and-trade that sent Dillon Brooks to the Houston Rockets. Christopher has been in the NBA for two seasons. Last year, he averaged five-point-eight points per game in 64 appearances with the Rockets.
