CCSO urging people to drive safe, sober this holiday weekend

As the Fourth of July Weekend gets underway, before the holiday itself on Tuesday, the Christian County Sheriff’s Department is reminding motorists to drive safe.

There’s going to be a lot of people traveling this weekend to see fireworks, family and friends, and Public Information Officer Chris Miller says they want people have fun, but also stay safe—give yourself extra time to reach your destination and share the road well with other drivers.

If you drink any alcohol at a celebration, make sure you have a designated driver or other mode of transportation to get you back home safely.

Miller says any DUI law that applies to vehicles also applies to boats, so if you’re out on the lake this weekend, make sure the one at the wheel of the boat is driving sober.

Miller says they will have extra patrols out this weekend on the lookout for anyone driving impaired or recklessly, in an effort to make the roads safer for everyone traveling this weekend.
