(Undated) — The football world is mourning the loss of a former NFL quarterback. According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, Ryan Mallett drowned in Florida. He was 35. Mallett was entering his second season as the head coach at White Hall High School in Arkansas. The New England Patriots drafted Mallet in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft out of Arkansas. He also spent time with the Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens. His final season was 2017. Mallett played 21 career games with eight starts, passing for 1,835 yards with nine touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

(Nashville, TN) — The Titans aren’t getting an answer from DeAndre Hopkins anytime soon. That’s according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, who describes a “lull” in action as it relates to the receiver’s free agency decision. Fowler says, “There’s some contenders there but right now, he is staying put and waiting for the right decision.” Hopkins visited Nashville and Foxboro, but Fowler believes a team like the Chiefs could get involved if they clear cap space.

(Undated) — Caitlin Clark is being honored for her tremendous 2022-23 basketball season. The Iowa guard was named the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year by the Collegiate Women Sports Awards yesterday. Clark led the Hawkeyes to the NCAA Championship Game and averaged 27-point-eight points per game last season.

(Sacramento, CA) — Sacramento Republic FC owner Kevin Nagle will be announcing plans for a new stadium in Sacramento within the next 60 days. This comes on the heels of his recent purchase of a team in the English Football League. The two teams will be working together, with the Sacramento players benefiting from training in the U.K. The stadium proposal is part of a continuing bid to become a Major League Soccer franchise. Nagle tells KCRA the expansion fee, which has ballooned to 500-million-dollars is his biggest challenge, but continues to work on finding investors.

(San Francisco, CA) — A Golden State Warriors guard is now a free agent. ESPN reports Donte DiVincenzo declined his player option and will hit the open market when free agency starts on Friday. DiVincenzo was set to make 4.7-million-dollars if he opted in for next season. The guard averaged nearly 9-and-a-half points and dished out three-and-a-half assists in 72 games last season. He is a career 36.2-percent three-point shooter. The former Villanova Wildcat was originally selected by the Milwaukee Bucks with the 17th pick in the 2018 draft. He helped Milwaukee win the NBA title in 2021.

(Miami, FL) — Victor Oladipo has decided to exercise his option for the upcoming NBA season. The two-time All-Star will make 9.4-million dollars next season as he continues to recover from a torn patellar tendon in his left knee. Oladipo injured the knee in Miami’s first round playoff series against the Milwaukee Bucks and there is currently no timetable for his return to the court. The 31-year-old averaged 10.7 points, three rebounds and 3.5 assists in 42 games with Miami this past season.
