Local youth take home titles in WKSF 4-H and FFA livestock shows

The Western Kentucky State Fair was host to the start of the annual livestock shows on Saturday in the newly constructed Thomas E. King Livestock Pavilion and they had some winners for the 4-H and FFA Swine and Beef Cattle shows.

According to a news release, there were 21 entries in the swine show, but the ones who took home top honors were Evan Cotton, for Grand Champion for Breeding Animal, Emma Milford was Reserve Grand Champion for Market Animal, and then Warren Watson was Grand Champion for Market Animal and Reserve Grand Champion for Breeding Animal.

In addition, Liam Kingery and Hattie Shemwell also had swine class champions.

In the Beef Cattle Show—which had 37 entries—Addilynn DeShields won Reserve Champion Hereford, Grand Champion Market Cattle, Mary Katherine Henderson won Reserve Grand Champion AOB, Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion in Gelbvieh and Craig Holloman won Grand Champion and Reserve Champion in Red Angus. Then Jennie Watts took home Grand Champion AOB, Reserve Supreme Breeding Animal and Reserve Champion Angus and Levi Womach won Grand Champion Angus, Reserve Champion Market Cattle, Grand Champion Hereford and Supreme Breeding Animal.

Other Beef Cattle champions were Kaden Brown, Genna Calhoun, Hannah Clark, Hayden Clark, Eason Fuqua, Evan Fuqua, Carrie Kuegel, Savanna Kuegel.

More livestock shows are set for the coming week.
