The Boys and Girls Club of Hopkinsville was with the Rotary Club of Hopkinsville Tuesday and they talked all things happening at the club, from programs to expansion plans and more.
Executive Director Terrence Davis says he’s proud to be a part of the Boys and Girls Club of Hopkinsville and the community should be too, as it routinely out-performs other clubs across the nation based on surveys taken by their club members.
He says they recently pushed for and received a $1 million grant from the State of Kentucky, and they plan to use that for many improvement projects at the club, including an expansion of their Teen Center.
They have ambitious plans for the Teen Center, including creating a state-of-the-art makers space, a coffee shop and an e-sports arena, to help teens learn about 21st century careers.
Davis says after this expansion, the club is maxed out on available space for future expansions—but they are looking into options concerning the existing stadium on the property. The Boys and Girls Club serves roughly 100 youth a day during the summer, and each one gets two meals a day and snacks.
