Kentucky State Police celebrate 75 years of service to Kentucky

Kentucky State Police celebrated 75 years of service to the Commonwealth Monday, and they remain committed to creating safer communities across the state.

In a ceremony, KSP Commissioner Phillip Burnett Jr. says KSP has grown immensely since its inception in 1948—it now is host to 1,890 employees, which includes both civilian and sworn personnel, and provides an array of law enforcement services to Kentucky’s 120 counties.  He says Kentuckians are blessed to have some of the finest men and women serving their communities, saying they often run into danger when others are running away.

He says there are plenty of challenges facing them, but they are committed to an excellence of service and protection, no matter what comes.

Governor Andy Beshear says he and other Kentuckians are deeply grateful for KSP, as they work to make the state a safer place to live and visit.

Since the agency’s inception, 37 troopers, officers and highway patrolmen have lost their lives in service to the commonwealth.
