Hopkinsville man charged following vehicle, foot pursuit

A Hopkinsville man is facing numerous charges following a vehicle and foot pursuit in the city early Saturday morning.

According to the Hopkinsville police report, officers were patrolling on Fort Campbell Boulevard around 1:30 a.m. when they observed a vehicle fail to stop at the stop sign at East 21st Street while also allegedly driving over the speed limit.  Officers attempted to make a traffic stop and the vehicle continued without stopping and a pursuit began.

It continued down Fort Campbell Boulevard, through a parking lot and through a red light at the intersection of Skyline Drive, before circling back to East 21st, reaching speeds of roughly 80 miles per hour.  The pursuit eventually came a stop when the fleeing vehicle reportedly stopped abruptly and the officer’s cruiser struck the back of it, and the suspect attempted to flee on foot.

Through use of a taser, 20-year-old Dynarian Day of Hopkinsville was taken into custody.

Day was arrested and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, two counts of fleeing or evading police, reckless driving, criminal mischief and numerous traffic violations.
