Updated: Man injured in early morning shooting incident

A man was injured in a shooting incident early Saturday morning on South Main Street.

It happened just after 3 a.m. at the Manhattan Motel and a Hopkinsville Police call response report says a woman told investigators she was in an argument with her boyfriend, 57-year old Adell McLay, when she retrieved her gun to defend herself.

When McLay attempted to get the gun from her, it discharged and struck him in the leg.

After initially refusing medical treatment, McLay later called for EMS and was taken to Jennie Stuart Health for a gunshot wound to the leg.

The woman’s daughter, 25-year old Jerrica Coleman of Hopkinsville, was arrested and charged with tampering with evidence for allegedly removing the gun from the scene.

The two parties involved in the incident have not been charged.
