Governor Andy Beshear gave an update on economic development, employment in the state and families still recovering from deadly flooding in eastern Kentucky.
There are now more than two million Kentuckians currently employed—more than ever recorded in state history—and that’s according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Governor Andy Beshear says it’s a great time to be a Kentuckian and if the U.S. Bureau of Labor wasn’t convincing enough, the state has had its bond rating upgraded for the first time in 13 years.
The governor says the rating was due in part to the state’s improved pensions.
Work continues to get those displaced by historic flooding in eastern Kentucky back into homes of their own, and Governor Beshear says there are currently 98 families are housed in travel trailers, while some others continue to be sheltered in Kentucky State Parks.
FEMA has approved more than $107.1 million in Individual Assistance grants.
