Trial date set for stabbing suspect

A trial date has been set in Christian Circuit Court for Darryl Dixon, the man accused of stabbing a woman in March of this year.

Dixon is charged with first-degree assault and kidnapping in this case for allegedly stabbing a female victim in the arm and ankle with a knife. After some discussion, Judge Andrew Self set a trial date of October 30, with the expectation it will last a couple of days.

Public defender Eric Bearden told the court he intends to file a bond motion on Dixon’s behalf in the coming weeks.

As previously reported, officers responded to Jennie Stuart Medical Center on March 5 for reports of a female victim with multiple injuries that resulted from an assault.  Upon arrival, officers determined the victim had a severe cut to her left arm that required stitches, a puncture wound on the same arm, a stab wound on her left ankle and a black eye. Medical officials say she could lose mobility in her left hand due to the extent of the injuries.

She and Dixon had reportedly gotten into an argument that became violent—Dixon allegedly would not let her leave the residence and then reportedly stabbed her with a knife, sliced her arm with a machete and punched her in the eye.
