(Arlington, TX) — The Rangers will be without their ace for the remainder of the season. Texas starting pitcher Jacob deGrom is set to undergo season-ending surgery to repair a tear in his ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. Rangers general manager Chris Young said that the decision for deGrom to have surgery came after a recent MRI. The two-time NL Cy Young Award winner said that “we’ve got a special group here, and to not be able to be out there and help them win, that stinks.” The 34-year-old went 2-and-0 with a 2.67 ERA through six starts this season.

(Bronx, NY) — The Yankees’ captain is heading to the injured list. Manager Aaron Boone confirmed after Tuesday’s game that Aaron Judge is being placed on the IL with a contusion and sprain of his toe. Boone said that Judge received a PRP shot on Tuesday, and the biggest thing is to wait for the swelling to go down. There is no timetable for a return, but Boone also confirmed there are no breaks or fractures of the toe. Judge suffered the injury after running into the outfield wall at Dodger Stadium while making a catch on Saturday.

(Toronto, ON) — The Blue Jays are optioning their ace to rookie-level Florida Complex League. Toronto optioned right-hander Alek Manoah to the lowest minor-league level on Tuesday. Manoah has struggled mightily this season, posting a 1-and-7 record with a 6.36 ERA in 13 starts. The 25-year-old allowed six runs in just a third of an inning in Monday’s loss to the Houston Astros. Manoah finished third in the AL Cy Young Award voting last season.

(Cincinnati, OH) — The Reds celebrated a walk off win against the Dodgers in their series opener from Cincinnati. The team trailed by two runs heading into the bottom of the ninth until Matt McLain singled home the game-winning run. Curt Casali walked with the bases loaded and Jake Fraley was hit by a pitch to tie the game. Elly De Le Cruz also scorched a double in his major league debut for Cincy, which improved to 28-and-33. The Reds are third in the NL Central and will send Brandon Williamson to the mound for game two tonight.
