Human Rights Commission hosting 60th anniversary gala July 15

The Hopkinsville Human Rights Commission is gearing up for their 60th anniversary and they’ll be hosting a gala on July 15 to celebrate.

Appearing on WHOP Tuesday morning, Executive Director Idalia Luna and Executive Assistant Raychel Fort-Farmer say they’re excited to celebrate 60 years of service to the community, and they’ll highlight the founding force behind the Hopkinsville HRC and the directors that have served since.

Farmer says they’ll be handing out awards, focusing on civil rights activism in the community.

Tickets to attend the event—which is 6 p.m. July 15 at the Silo Event Center—are currently at $50 apiece, but that will increase to $75 on June 1.  The gala will be a formal attire event with dancing and music, and it will also serve as the HRC annual meeting where they will discuss the commission’s highlights and welcome in new leadership.
