Nashville carjacking suspects arrested at end of pursuit in Christian County

A pursuit of a vehicle from Tennessee into Christian County Tuesday night ended with a crash and with the arrests of teens who were allegedly involved in a carjacking earlier in the day in Nashville.

Metro Nashville Police say the initial incident happened around 2 p.m. Tuesday as a 51-year old restaurant worker took a break in his car on 12th Avenue.

The victim told police that four young men surrounded his car and one pulled a pistol and demanded his keys while the others punched him and removed him from the vehicle.

The four suspects got inside the car and drove away.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol later located the car and a pursuit began, going through Robertson and Montgomery counties until it wrecked out near the 86 mile-marker in the Oak Grove area of Christian County.

Three teens inside were taken into custody and two of them, identified by Nashville Police as 15-year old Rashaad Compton and 17-year old Edwardontavious Phillips, were determined to be suspects in the carjacking. A 16-year old in the vehicle remains under investigation, according to police.

No one was injured in the crash and the juveniles are also facing charges related to the pursuit in Christian County.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the pursuit as it came into Kentucky.
