Resolution once again possible in Christmas Day stabbing case

The trial date for stabbing suspect Benito Bautista was vacated Wednesday in Christian Circuit Court and attorneys say a resolution could be possible.

Defense attorney Sands Chewing informed the court they’re hopeful to have this cased resolved come June 28, which is when a pretrial conference was set.

Bautista’s other attorney, Carlos Moran, says they will likely need an interpreter at that hearing if they do come to a resolution, to be sure that all matters concerning immigration are understood clearly.

Trial had been previously set to start on June 12. Bautista is accused of stabbing a man in a relationship with his estranged wife at a residence on Witty Lane on Christmas Day in 2021 multiple times, sending him to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment.
