Pretrial conference set in infant death case

The defense is still awaiting evidence in the case against Alexander Heck, the man charged with murder in the March 2022 death of an infant.

Heck appeared alongside defense attorney Michael Thompson in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday, who informed the court he is still waiting to receive evidence from the Commonwealth.  Commonwealth’s Attorney Stephanie Bolen told Thompson he is welcome to come by her office and get copies of what evidence he feels is missing.

Judge Andrew Self set a pretrial conference for July 12, saying it’s his hope that the evidence troubles will be resolved by that time and they can start discussing possible trial dates.

The indictment for first-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence against Heck alleges he “wantonly engaged in conduct” that led to the victim’s death on March 1 of last year. Heck is also accused of tampering with evidence by concealing, removing or altering evidence that he believed was about to be used in an official proceeding.
