>>Cardinals Rally Past Cubs In Ninth

 

(Chicago, IL)  — The Cardinals scored a pair of runs in the top of the ninth to beat the Cubs 6-4 at Wrigley Field.  Paul DeJong broke a 4-4 tie with a solo home run, and Andrew Knizner added an RBI double later in the inning.  Lars Nootbaar and Nolan Gorman also went deep in the victory, and Chris Stratton earned the win in relief.  Giovanny Gallegos picked up his second save to lock down a third-straight Cardinals win.  St. Louis remains in last place in the NL Central at 13-and-24.  Jordan Montgomery takes the mound for the Cardinals against the Cubs tonight.

 

>>Reds Edge Mets In Series Opener

 

(Cincinnati, OH)  — The Reds edged Mets 7-6 in their series opener from Cincinnati.  Luke Weaver got the win after surrendering four runs on four hits over six innings.  Jonathan India went 3-for-3 and had three RBI while TJ Friedl knocked in two runs on a triple.  Cincy improved to 15-and-20 and is still fourth in the NL Central.  The team is back in action for game two tonight.  Hunter Greene gets the start while New York counters with Justin Verlander.  In other news, the team designated starter Luis Cessa for assignment.
