Kiwanis celebrates National Day of Prayer with students, service

Thursday was the National Day of Prayer and the Kiwanis Club of Hopkinsville celebrated with local students and plenty of prayer.

New Work Fellowship Student Pastor Michael Shearon, along with students Kylie Batts and Ryan Riggs, spoke on the importance of peace and prayer. Batts says students in this day and age face judgement from numerous sources, especially social media, which many youths battle with.

Riggs says a lot of young people are dealing with anxiety—from worrying about their safety to pressure to know what they are going to do with their lives after school.

Pastor Shearon says prayer has more power than people realize, and he feels that people are called to pray for each other often and with purpose. He says prayer has the ability to change anything at any time.

The audience was called to break into groups to pray together about many topics, including change in the world, change in Hopkinsville, the things they are grateful for and the things they think need revival in their lives.
