Montgomery County school locks down after reported threat, no danger found

An elementary school in Montgomery County was on lockdown for much of Tuesday morning after a student reported seeing someone with a gun in the building, though investigators never located the person or weapon.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office says police agencies responded to Rossview Elementary School after a student reported to the school administration that they saw a male, dressed all in black, with a gun in the school.

The school administration immediately reported it to the school resource officer and additional law enforcement units were dispatched to respond to the school as it was placed on lockdown.

Rossview High School and Rossview Middle School were also put on lockdown as a precaution.

Investigators conducted a thorough search of the elementary school and surrounding campus and did not locate any threats nor any corroboration to the student’s initial report.
