Christian County School System Assistant Superintendent Josh Hunt is leaving to become superintendent in the McCracken County Public School System.
A news release says Hunt, who has served in his current role since July 2020, was confirmed Monday in a vote by the McCracken County School Board.
Christian County Superintendent Chris Bentzel issued a statement congratulating Hunt, saying “Mr. Hunt has spent the last 20+ years as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, and central office administrator in the district. He is a family man, mentor, leader and someone who represents the true values of CCPS and this community.”
Bentzel says it’s bittersweet, but they are proud to see Hunt being promoted to new levels of leadership and he knows Hunt can tackle whatever comes his way.
Hunt’s transition from Christian County Schools will become effective June 30.
Hunt says, “This was a very difficult decision for my family and I. Christian County has been the only place I’ve ever called home. All but just a few of my 22 years as an educator has been here in CCPS. I’m very proud of all the work we’ve done as a team during the last three years to overcome the many challenges and to do whatever it took to provide the best opportunities for our students. I am excited to see all the good things coming in the days ahead for this district.”
