Democrats officially make Bolen nominee for commonwealth’s attorney, Republicans holding off on decision

The Christian County Democratic Party has officially chosen Stephanie Bolen as its nominee for commonwealth’s attorney in this year’s general election, while Republicans are putting off their decision a for a few more weeks.

Democrats chose Bolen, who was appointed to the position by Governor Andy Beshear following the resignation of Rick Boling, at their April 19 executive committee meeting.

Christian County Republican Party Chairman Jason Hasert says they will wait until after the May primary to choose a nominee for the special election.

Republican Assistant County Attorney Maureen Leamy made it known earlier this year she is interested in running for the office.

The winner in November will serve out the remainder of Boling’s term and the office will be back on the ballot again next year.
