Crissy Fletcher retiring as Hopkinsville city clerk

After 27 years of service to the City of Hopkinsville, City Clerk Crissy Fletcher will retire effective August 1.

Fletcher was hired by the city in 1996, was appointed deputy clerk within two yearsand, in 2002, became assistant city clerk. In 2006, she was appointed city clerk upon the retirement of Mark Withers and she has held that position ever since. She holds master-level certifications through the Kentucky Municipal Clerks Association  and the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. She served three terms as KMCA President and one term as Vice-President.

Mayor J.R. Knight says, “Crissy is the most knowledgeable and skilled Clerk the City has ever had. Her professionalism and expertise has been invaluable to various mayors and City councilmembers throughout her years with the city.”

Fletcher was selected and awarded the 2015 Pennyrile Region Outstanding City Clerk and was Administrator of the Year and the KMCA Clerk of the Year in 2016.

She established and led the City Diplomat Program that offers residents an opportunity to learn, first hand, about the inner-workings of City government and its departments.

Fletcher says “My proudest accomplishment during my time with the City was assisting citizens that were forced out of their homes by floodwaters after the flood in 1997. After working with the state and federal governments, the City ultimately received grant funding to purchase many of the flood-prone properties.”

Regarding life after retirement she says, “After taking some time to enjoy my grandson and following a retirement trip, I hope to find another career that challenges me and keeps me involved in my community.”

The City of Hopkinsville will post the city clerk vacancy on Wednesday, April 26.
