The Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Department will have a familiar face leading them starting in May, as longtime coordinator Toby Hudson has been chosen by Mayor J.R. Knight to serve as the new superintendent.
According to a news release, Hudson was chosen from a group of applications from across the region, and brings over 20 years of experience to the position after current Superintendent Tab Brockman retires in September. Hudson has worked as program coordinator within Parks and Recreation and as the first assistant for many years. He is a native of Hopkinsville and a graduate of Christian County High School and holds a turf specialist degree from the University of Georgia.
Hudson says, “It is very humbling to be chosen to lead our department. We have an amazing team and I am looking forward to working with each one of them to further enhance our community through Parks and Recreation.”
Hudson will lead a 12-member department that is responsible for Tie Breaker Park Athletic Complex, Planters Bank-Jennie Stuart Health Hopkinsville Sportsplex, Bluegrass Splash Family Aquatic Center and a host of events, including August’s Summer Salute Festival, the region’s largest event.
