Larayna Manning sentenced to life in prison

Larayna Manning was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday in Christian Circuit Court for her role in the death of Calvin “Cue” Taylor, and plans for an appeal are already in the works.

Manning appeared before Judge Andrew Self, who stuck with the jury’s conviction and recommended of life for complicity to murder and 20 years for first-degree robbery, to run concurrently for a life sentence.

Manning would only be eligible for parole after serving at least 20 years of that life sentence. Defense attorney Jason Pfiel says he intends to file an appeal as soon as the next day and he intends to argue for an appeal bond.

Manning still has two other cases pending in Judge Self’s court, so proceedings were set for April 5 where they will discuss those charges and make arguments concerning an appeal bond.

Calvin Taylor was shot and killed in 2020 at a house on North Kentucky Avenue—Larayna Manning was convicted in trial, while her son and co-defendant, Anthony Manning, entered an Alford guilty plea to facilitation to complicity to commit murder and facilitation to complicity to commit robbery for his role in the incident.
