Hopkinsville City Council hears financial report, approves several ordinances, municipal orders

Hopkinsville City Council heard the monthly financial report at Tuesday’s meeting and approved several municipal orders and ordinances.

Council quickly made its way through a fairly routine agenda, and Chief Financial Officer Melissa Clayton presented the financial report, saying the expenditures from the general fund are right on track for the fiscal year so far.

The available cash balance is sitting at right about $15 million, just a little lower from January.

The new name for the once Tie Breaker Family Aquatic Center—now to be called Bluegrass Splash—was approved unanimously, as second reading of an ordinance establishing a deputy alcohol beverage control administrator at $100 per month.  Anna Mohon was appointed to serve in that position.

In other action, council approved a municipal order declaring 409 East Seventh Street—which was transferred to the city at the March 7 council meeting—as surplus property and authorized the mayor to dispose of that property in accordance with the Kentucky Revised Statutes. That property once served as a senior center and children’s advocacy center.
