Attorneys to attempt mediation in Streeval murder case

Attorneys will attempt mediation to reach a plea agreement in the case against 33-year old Montie Streeval, the man charged in connection with the August, 2021 shooting death of 25-year-old Cameron Phillips.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Carrie-Ovey Wiggins and defense attorney Olivia Adams each agreed Wednesday morning they’ll likely proceed to trial in August if mediation isn’t successful later this month.

Adams says she’ll likely have several motions to be heard before trial if mediation is unsuccessful.

Phillips’ body was found August 6, 2021 in a wood line near Old Rocky Point Road in Trigg County. Kentucky State Police investigation determined Phillips died from a single gunshot wound to the head.  Streeval allegedly admitted to driving Phillips to Trigg County for a drug deal, but did not admit to the killing.

He is charged with murder and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
