Trial delayed, bond modification denied for McHenry Street murder suspect

Trial has been delayed once more in the murder case against Robert Torian, as the new Commonwealth’s Attorney steps into her role.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Stephanie Bolen informed the court it’s likely the Attorney General’s Office will appoint a special prosecutor in this case, and she hopes to know more about that in the coming days.

Judge Andrew Self set a pretrial hearing for March 13, and made it clear that he considers this case a top priority, due to the nature of the charges and the fact it has been delayed several times thus far.

Defense attorney James Chamberlain once again requested bond modification for Torian, saying he has been in custody on this charge for a long time now and—through no fault of Torian—it’s being delayed again.

Judge Self denied the request for today, saying he’s willing to take it under consideration at that March pretrial hearing if the new trial date cannot be set for the spring.

Torian is charged with murder for allegedly shooting and killing Terrill Moore during an argument that began inside a car on McHenry Street in August of 2019.
