Local legislators talk issues on Sunday morning update program

Local legislators discuss issues that will or have come up in the 2023 session of the Kentucky General Assembly when this week’s Legislative Update airs Sunday morning.

Representative Walker Thomas says his legislation concerning metal wheels on horse-drawn buggies may need to wait until next year so he can gather more information and craft a more thorough version.

Representative Myron Dossett of Pembroke is glad to see House Bill 4 pass the House, as it includes language he had in another bill that protects counties that regulate solar farms and protects land owners who lease to developers.

Senator Whitney Westerfield of Christian County supported Senate Bill 5, which is headed to the House and gives parents a say in what materials their children have access to in public schools.

Critics say the bill could lead to censorship of books, but Senator Westerfield says he doesn’t believe it rises to that level.

You can hear lawmakers discuss these issues and others at 9 a.m. Sunday on 98.7 Lite FM and online at lite987whop.com.
