Legislators wrap up Week 3 of General Assembly session

Week 3 of the 2023 session of the Kentucky General Assembly is in the books and local lawmakers will be on this week’s Legislative Update to talk about it.

State Senator Whitney Westerfield testified before a committee this week on behalf of Senate Bill 99, which he says would require the executive branch to answer several questions about how the Team Kentucky relief money following the Western Kentucky tornadoes and Eastern Kentucky flooding was allocated.

Legislation that includes language regarding solar farm regulation has been filed as House Bill 4 and while its not the original bill filed by Representative Myron Dossett on the matter, he’s supporting it.

House Bill 300 received attention this week, and Representative Walker Thomas expressed his concern about the bill that would penalize women who illegally obtain an abortion. Thomas says those women should get the appropriate help, not prosecuted, and Kentucky should make it easier for women to know they have other options.

You can hear local legislators discuss these issues and others Sunday morning at 9 on 98.7 Lite FM and online at lite987whop.com.
